Do People Even Blog Anymore?
Do people even blog anymore?
Are we all just shouting into the void of social media? It's like the internet became a bustling city, and blogging is that quirky little coffee shop tucked away in a corner – well here’s the deal: my little borderline heart loves coffee and a place to express myself.
So, why blog? Mental health advocacy.
Advocacy for mental health is not just a trend; it's a compassionate revolution that's long overdue, particularly in the Borderline community. When we meet our borderline community with empathy, understanding, and support, then we are able to meet our emotions with resilience and in a way that does no harm to ourselves and others.
So here we go. What is peer support?
This community of our SuperFeelers is built on peer support. Peer support hasn’t been built into the BPD and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) community. It’s as if the professionals haven’t trusted us to be healthy together as peers. And maybe they haven’t - in fact I’d argue that they don’t. We’re here in the BBB community to say absolutely not - we can grow. We can develop healthy, motivating behavior towards others. We give to the world. We don’t take from it.
Peer support allows individuals with lived experiences of mental health challenges provide assistance, empathy, and understanding to others facing similar struggles. We act as mentors, share our own journey of recovery and provide support based on the common ground of all having strong dysregulation and similar diagnoses.
Peer supporters offers emotional support, teaching and learning from each other about coping strategies, and provide a sense of hope and encouragement. For us in the BBB community we do this through our SuperFeelers meetings 1-2x per month via Zoom (no charge) and through hosting folx with BPD on our podcast.
We are hopeful to change the community of mental health to be less stigmatized - follow along with SuperFeelers and the podcast here:
